Good advice. I tell engineering students the very same thing about engineering. You should do it only if you can't imagine yourself doing anything else.

Whenever I've had a student ask about becoming an artist, I ask them, if they didn't become an artist, what would they do?  If they have an answer to that I tell them they should definitely do that, because they're not going to make it as an artist.
