those pesky plugs can be taken apart and cleaned for longer service.
turn off the breaker/tape it.
pull out the plug.
sand paper the prongs, and then
take off the cover of the box and sand paper
the female connectors.  make them shine.
put it back together.

same for all electrical connections made.
you want no crap/rust, or other build up
to be on the metal parts.
(heat build up, sort of like rust...starts
a new build up and soon it shorts out, burns etc.)

that is why you buy new wire nuts and do not use
the old ones.  buy green wire nuts for ground.

i buy a box of plugs at home depot...like 12...
15 amp and 20 amp.
when you are opening anything with sockets, put in a new one.
2 bucks.

and save every screw and bolt from fixtures.'
you will need them one day.
