I sent JH an email on this topic and I'm being so presumptuous as to
forward it.

I second John's absorption strategy.

I also wonder about dark glazes and clay bodies. I've noticed some dark
pots heat up and I wonder if it's the amount of iron but it's not a
consistent pattern. Any comments?
