Burnishing the foot ring, with or without terra-sig, as the last step of
foot ring making will also produce smooth bottoms.

Also after firing, going over the bottom/foot of a piece with fine grade
emery paper (such as "3M Pro Grade Precision Ultra Flexible Sanding Sheets)
will remove any ceramic 'fuzz' that arises from the firing.
