[Clayart] Developing claybodies

There are no deflocculating elements in the dry materials. The bags
actually indicate that either soda ash/wood ash or Daravan should be used.
I mixed then threw some of the clay but it is....soft and throwing short.
Any tips on developing this into a workable claybody?

"Hi all,

I just came into several bags of dry slip cast clay and I was wondering how
I might use this clay for throwing. I assume I'll have to add some kaolin
and possibly bentonite but I've never attempted to produce my own clay. The
bad are aardvark slip claybody mid fire, I suspect it is merely ball clay
and talc. Thanks in advance for any wisdom on claybody development.

Cheers,
Tim"
