[Clayart] rice paper story

when we got to japan, my wife wanted to use some
`rice paper`....so, we went to a couple of stationary
stores, art supply stores and asked for `rice paper`.
we sort of stumbled with the language...go/han kame...
rice....paper....paper from rice...ricepaper.
they all laughed..`no such thing in japan`.
rice paper is funny.  rice is for eating.
we never found rice paper.
but, sharlene fell in love with japanese papers
of all kinds...often did not know the name...but the
paper was wonderful.  (as fred just said...`maybe mulberry paper`.)

one must remember, every day is an adventure when you do not
speak the language.  we did baby talk.  we sure laughed a great deal.
don't leave home without your  `ja/beekie`/  dictionary/translation/
often just one word made all the difference.
