My old reduction body was ^4, equal parts by weight of Redart, fireclay, and grog. (By volume, it’s about 2/2/1…grog is heavy.) Easy to mix in buckets! The fluxing properties of all that iron were critical, though, and in oxidation, it’s more like a ^8 body. Still seeking a homemade body that will work similarly in oxidation, but closer to ^5 or so.
