this is the clay formula that was published on clayart:
open source, cone 6, ron roy design, tested by many clayarters.
it is a fine body;
Hawthorn Fire clay .... 5.0
Foundry Hill Cream .. 25.0
Old Mine 4 .............. 10.0
EPK........................... 30.0
Silica ....................... 10.0
Neph Sy .................. 20.0
Texas Talc ................. 2.0
Bentonite .................. 1.0
Epsome salts .............. 0.2 (dissolved)
Total .................... 103.2
Mix well - tests were either blended or sieved 2 times through 80
Mesh. Dry by evaporation - so salts are not lost.
If mixing with a pug mill mix powder well and run through 2 or 3 times
leaving some time (a day) between mixes.
Some commercial clay makers may not mix well enough so be sure to run
absorption tests to make sure ware will not leak. Test with water in
an unglazed cylinder for 24 hours on paper. If not waterproof paper
will wrinkle.
This clay will throw well as soon as mixed but will improve over time.
