Hi -

There seems to be some confusion re what temperature is "good" for holds in
the downfire of glazes.  There is no more a good temperature for holds, than a
"good" clay body.

Holds depend on the glaze

The background glaze for the plate below, satIron_ZG_0:

with a hold at 1850 or above will be a muddy brown, and none of the exciting
coppery colored microcrystals seen in the above image.
