[Clayart] Clayart

I think there are plenty of Clayarters who don’t often post stuff but we are out there!
As a matter of fact, I have a question. There was an article in the September issue of Southern Living about a potter who makes some beautiful pieces in Terra Cotta clay
like coffee mugs, pitchers, butter dishes, etc. I thought this clay is low fire, or it used to be when I was making things like planters out of it. How can these pieces be water proof? Wouldn’t a coffee mug leak?
Thanks, Kathy Schultz🌴
